55%-AL aluminized steel coil, also known as GL (Galvalume), is a continuous hot-dip metal coated steel coil composed of 55% aluminum and 45% zinc. Compared to traditional galvanized steel, the combination of aluminum and zinc enhances corrosion resistance and extends service life.

The aluminized layer on the steel coil has several advantages. First, even in harsh environments, the aluminum in the coating provides excellent corrosion barrier protection. It acts like a sacrificial layer, protecting the underlying steel from rusting and maintaining its structural integrity.

Secondly, the zinc in the aluminized zinc layer actively corrodes, protecting any exposed edges or scratches on the steel surface, thereby providing electrochemical protection. This sacrificial protection ensures long-lasting performance and prevents corrosion from spreading throughout the steel coil.
